I met Travis in seventh grade. I was very fortunate to meet such a
wonderful person! I was held back in seventh grade and was having a hard
time adjusting to new friends and seeing my old friends move on with out
me. Travis made me feel very welcome into his class.
Travis was in my english class and we ran cross country together. Travis will always hold
a very special place in my heart. Travis not only was a great friend but
also my very first boyfriend. Now I know that being that young it would
only be considered puppy love, but all in the same I still and always
will remember him and hold him very close to my heart. I remember at the
time Travis was wearing a cast on this leg so I would help carry his
duffle bag to his class after english, I think he was a little
embarrassed but never said so. I remember while he had his cast on he
would come and cheer me on at the cross country meets. I know Travis was
bummed out because he liked cross country, he was a very good runner.
When he was able to run he always placed really good.
I also remember talking to him for hours on the phone. No matter how down in the dumps I
was Travis always made me laugh. He would have me right in stitches! I remember while talking on the phone his mother would tease him about talking to his girlfriend; she would say "oh Trav it's your girlfriend on the phone!" I though that was so funny. I really envied him because him and his mother were so close.
We remained good friend even after breaking up and all through jr. high. When we went to high school we both had lots going on in our lives so we didn't get to talk as much as I'd like,
but I do remember talking to Travis at the lunch table sometimes and
anytime I'd see him he would always say hi.
I have to say Travis was one
of the friendliest people that I had the opportunity to meet! I was very
heart broken to find out about his untimely death. It is a shame that it
had to happen to such a great person. This is very short and just a few
memories but they sure do mean a lot to me. Please give his mother and
brother my condolences. Thank you.
