My son, Dan Watters, serves on the USS Mahan. He and Travis were wonderful friends. He is devastated with the loss of his best friend.They quickly became the best of friends, sharing so much in common. They spent all of their free time together. These two shared an incredible bond of the heart, than Dan will hold dear in his memories for the rest of his life. Liz welcomed my son into her home while he was in Maine with the ship. It made me happy to know he could spend time with a fun and loving family, when he could'nt get home. I know that Travis and Dan were going to spend time together in Maine , while on Christmas leave. On their way to Norfolk to meet the ship, they stopped at my home for the night. Upon meeting Travis, I knew why Dan felt so close to him. I found him to be so gentle in his ways, much like Dan. They shared a great sense of humor together. My son has submitted pictures to this site, of his moments with Travis. Those special times with always be in his heart. He was at the service for his friend, deeply saddened, yet honored to wear the uniform that drew them so close. My family sends thoughtful prayers to you at this time. No one can lessen what this loss feels like for your family, but we share in it with you. Travis has touched so many lives, he is truly an angel among us.
