Good Friend
By FC2 (SW) Anthony Restivo

I was a very good friend of Travis' when he was here. I am leaving the boat soon and found this website in my archives. I just wanted to say that we all still miss Trav very much here as I'm sure you all do. When we were pre-commissioning the ship I was close to all the Sonar techs (as I still am) and Trav was one of the people that I was really close with. All I can say is that even till this day we all pray for him daily. I have a picture of him in my living room on the entertainment center. It's of him with his fist raised in the air with that confident look on his face that he always had. I will look around for more pictures which I do believe I have. I apologize that I don't have a scanner available to me at the moment so I will have to mail them regularly. I know they are planning on getting a plaque made up to put in Sonar Control in his memory. I just wish there was something more I could do or say. Sometimes I resent the Navy for putting us all in the places where our danger is multiplied tenfold. But what I think Travis would say is that he lived his life on his terms and exactly how he wanted to. I know Travis loved what he did and the path that he chose to do it in.

Well I must go for now because I'm on watch and we're underway. One of Travis' other friends actually just came in and I showed him this letter that I have wrote to you. Once again I send my regards and condolences to the entire family. If you could tell me where Travis' remains are I would eventually like to come and pay my respects personally. I know that he would do the same for me.

Your friend and Trav's,
Anthony Restivo
