In Memory of Travis Weston
By William C. Lyon

Bill and John Lyon

My son John attended Norwich University, which to my benefit is located in Northfield, less than one-quarter mile from our home.

After the Rooks (new freshmen in the Corps of Cadets) were recognized, they had more freedom.

Shortly after that, John brought his most trusted friends home. Travis was included.

I liked him the minute I met him and always looked forward to their visits.

They were all intelligent, dedicated, positive individuals who shared a special education in the Corps of Cadets at Norwich, which creates lifetime friendships.

Those were very special times for me.

During October 1996, Norwich hosted the Traveling Vietnam Wall. Due to my service in the Marines and Vietnam, the Wall totally consumed me for a week.

I had the most wonderful experiences there with many visitors but among my favorites were John, Travis, Trey, Sean, and their other friends. It was a unique, emotional opportunity to share an important part of my life with such respectful young men.

The enclosed pictureshows Travis, John, and Sean Cunningham at the Wall. I have also enclosed one of John and myself.

I thank you for the opportunity to share this with Travis' family. There are two songs that I would like to dedicate to Travis: "Forever Young," as that is the way we will always remember him, and "My Heart Will Go On."

I am a better person for having known Travis. I thank him and his family for that and I will always remember him. My prayers are with Travis and his family.

Forever Young
- Artist: Rod Stewart
- peak Billboard position # 12 in 1988
- Words and Music by Kevin Stuart James Savigar, James Cregan, Rod Stewart, and Bob Dylan

May the Good Lord be with ya down every road you roam
And may sunshine and happiness surround you when you're far from home
And may you grow to be proud, dignified, and true
And do unto others as you would have done to you

Be courageous and be brave
And in my heart you'll always stay
Forever young (forever young)
Forever young (forever young)

May good fortune be with you, may your guiding light be strong
Build a stairway to heaven with a prince or a bag of bones

And may you never love in vain
And in my heart you will remain
Forever young (forever young)
Forever young (forever young)

For ever young
For ever young
Yeah!

And when you fin'lly fly away I'll be hopin' that I served ya well
For all the wisdom of a lifetime no one can ever tell

But whatever road ya choose
I'm right behind you, win or lose
Forever young (forever young)
Forever young (forever young)

For ever young
For ever young
For! For! ever young
For ever young

My Heart Will Go On
Celine Dion
Let's Talk About Love
- (Love Theme From "Titanic")

Every night in my dreams
I see you. I feel you.
That is how I know you go on.

Far across the distance
And spaces between us
You have come to show you go on.

Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on

Love can touch us one time
And last for a lifetime
And never go till we're one

Love was when I loved you
One true time I hold to
In my life we'll always go on

Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on

There is some love that will not
go away

You're here, there's nothing I fear,
And I know that my heart will go on
We'll stay forever this way
You are safe in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
